Neonatal, Perinatal Medicine and NICU

The Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine is based at Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Hutzel Women’s Hospital.

The goals of the division are to provide state-of-the-art clinical care to neonates admitted to Children’s and Hutzel hospitals, to continue to perform cutting edge research, and educate students and health care professionals in both institutions. In 2002, there were 1,120 admissions to the Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (843 on the neonatology service) and 853 admissions to the Hutzel neonatology service. The division members include 12 faculty members (eight full time), seven fellows, and nine neonatal nurse clinicians. The wellborn newborn service had 4,494 infants on the neonatology service in 2002 supervised by a full-time pediatrician.
